Holster Durability, Care & Warranty FAQ
Holster Durability, Care & Warranty FAQ
Will my Kydex holster crack over time?
Kydex is extremely durable and well suited for everyday carry. Under normal use, your holster should provide years of service without cracking or losing its shape.
Like any material, however, Kydex can be damaged by excessive force, improper use, or extreme heat.
To help protect your holster:
- Do not intentionally bend, crush, or excessively flex the Kydex shell.
- Keep the holster away from excessive heat or open flame. High temperatures can soften Kydex and permanently change its shape.
- Only use the holster with the firearm model and configuration for which it was built. Forcing a different firearm into the holster can damage the shell and may create an unsafe fit.
- Inspect your holster and hardware periodically for signs of damage or unusual wear.
If your holster develops a crack or structural failure during normal use, contact us. It may be covered under the Alpha Concealment Systems Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Is wear on my belt clips and hardware normal?
Yes.
Your holster is everyday carry equipment, and cosmetic wear is expected over time. Belt clips may develop scratches or finish wear from repeated use, and hardware may show signs of normal contact and handling.
You should also periodically inspect the screws and fasteners on your holster. Repeated movement during everyday carry can cause hardware to loosen over time.
If necessary, carefully snug loose hardware with the appropriate screwdriver. Do not overtighten.
Replacement clips, screws, posts, spacers, and other hardware are available through Alpha Concealment Systems.
What does the Alpha Concealment Systems warranty cover?
Every Alpha holster is backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
If an Alpha holster experiences a structural failure during normal use because of a defect in the materials or the way it was manufactured, we'll work with you to make it right.
Depending on the issue, we may repair the product, replace the affected component, or replace the holster.
Examples of potentially covered issues include:
- Kydex cracking or structural failure during normal use
- Failure of an original attachment point
- Defective hardware
- Manufacturing defects that prevent the holster from functioning as intended
Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser and is subject to inspection and approval by Alpha Concealment Systems.
What isn't covered by the warranty?
Our Limited Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturing and material defects. It does not cover normal cosmetic wear, misuse, modification, loss, or damage caused by conditions outside the intended use of the product.
Examples include:
- Scratches, scuffs, finish wear, or other cosmetic changes from everyday carry
- Damage caused by excessive heat, open flame, crushing, impact, or improper storage
- Damage caused by using a firearm or accessory configuration the holster was not designed to accommodate
- Damage resulting from unauthorized modification of the Kydex shell
- Lost hardware or components
- Lost or stolen products
- Damage caused by improper installation of aftermarket components
- Normal wear of replaceable hardware or belt attachments
If you're unsure whether something is covered, contact us. We'd rather take a look than have you continue carrying equipment you believe may be damaged.
How do I submit a warranty claim?
Email support@alphaconcealment.com with the subject line “Warranty Claim” and include:
- Your name and original order number, if available
- A brief description of the issue
- Clear photographs showing the affected area
- The firearm model and any relevant accessories used with the holster
If your holster was purchased during Alpha's original years of operation and you no longer have your order information, contact us anyway. Include as much information as you can and we'll do our best to locate the original purchase.
We'll review the information and let you know the next steps.
Please do not ship a product to us without contacting Alpha first.
How should I clean my Kydex holster?
Kydex requires very little maintenance.
For routine cleaning, remove the firearm from the holster and wipe the Kydex with a damp cloth. For heavier dirt or debris, mild soap and water can be used.
Allow the holster to dry completely before use.
Avoid harsh solvents or chemicals, and never use heat to accelerate drying.
No lubricant is necessary on the Kydex shell.
How often should I inspect my holster?
We recommend periodically inspecting your complete carry setup.
Check:
- Kydex for cracks or unusual deformation
- Belt clips for damage
- Screws and posts for looseness
- Retention hardware
- ModWing and other attachments, if equipped
Your holster is equipment you rely on regularly. A quick inspection takes very little time and can identify loose hardware or damage before it becomes a larger problem.
How do I adjust retention?
If your Alpha holster is equipped with adjustable retention, you can fine-tune the fit using the retention hardware.
Make adjustments in small increments, checking the firearm's fit after each adjustment.
Tightening the retention hardware increases resistance. Loosening it decreases resistance.
Do not overtighten the hardware or attempt to modify the Kydex itself to change retention.
After making any adjustment, verify that the holster securely retains the correct firearm before carrying it.
